Abstract

Rezultati so pokazali, da telesna dejavnost staršev, njihova starost, izobrazba in kraj bivanja niso statistično značilno povezani s telesno dejavnostjo otrok.

Secondary title: Correlation between physical activity of preschool children and physical activity of parents
Secondary abstract: Physical activity in the preschool period is of key importance for the holistic development of a child. The purpose of the thesis was to investigate the relationship between the physical activity of preschool children and their parents and to identify factors that influence children's physical activity. The study involved 65 children aged 5 to 7 years (mean age 5.70 ± 0.50 years) from the Mengeš Kindergarten and their parents. Physical activity was measured objectively with ActiGraph GT3X+ accelerometers, which the children wore for 7 days, 11 hours per day, and the parents for 7 days, 4 hours in the afternoon. The physical activity of the parents was additionally assessed using the standardized EHIS-PAQ questionnaire. The results showed that the physical activity of the parents, their age, educational level and place of residence were not statistically significantly associated with children's physical activity. The key finding of the study is that children are significantly more physically active during the week while attending kindergarten than at home at weekends, especially at low (18.98% during the week and 20.37% at weekends; p = 0.03) and high intensity levels (6.05% and 5.49%; p = 0.03). Encouragingly, 79.66% of parents meet the WHO physical activity recommendations, but this awareness is not automatically transferred to their children.
