magistrsko delo

Abstract

Secondary title: Comparative numerical analysis of the influence of a monolithic and a precast hollow core slab on the seismic response of a reinforced concrete structure
Secondary abstract: This master's thesis presents a comparative numerical analysis of the seismic response of a multi-storey reinforced concrete building with two different floor systems: a fully monolithic reinforced concrete slab and a precast floor system composed of hollow-core concrete slabs. The comparative analysis was carried out using the RFEM 6 software, applying a linear elastic response spectrum method in accordance with the requirements of Eurocode 8. The analysis was based on linear elastic material models, first-order theory (geometrically linear approach), and the Reissner–Mindlin plate theory. The main objective was to examine the extent to which the mechanical properties and numerical boundary conditions of the two floor systems affect the seismic response of the structure, particularly in terms of modal analysis results, global stiffness, and the development of internal forces in the walls, while maintaining equal structural mass in both models. Two numerical models were created: the first with a typical monolithic RC floor system, and the second with a precast floor system composed of hollow-core concrete slabs. The results of the analysis performed within the scope of this thesis showed that greater static indeterminacy and lower in-plane stiffness of the precast floor system led to longer natural periods, increased displacements, slight changes in mode shapes, and an increase in bending moments and shear forces in the walls, while axial forces were consistently slightly lower.
