Abstract

Secondary title: Factors of the decision - making process of women when purchasing nutritional supplements
Secondary abstract: In this master’s thesis, we examined the factors influencing the decision-making process of women when purchasing dietary supplements. First, we defined the concept of consumer behavior and described the consumer decision-making process, along with the factors that influence their choices. The dietary supplements market is one of the fastest-growing segments in the health and wellness industry. Nevertheless, there is still a lack of research that provides deeper insight into how women decide to purchase these products. In the final, research-oriented part of the thesis, we analyzed the responses of fifty-one female participants. We found that more than half of the respondents considered price to be an important factor when purchasing dietary supplements, and more than half also valued the advice of a doctor or pharmacist. The most important factor in the decision-making process for purchasing dietary supplements was quality, which received the highest ranking; all respondents answered that it was either important or very important. It should also be noted that most women purchase dietary supplements once a month or less frequently. The main reasons given for purchasing dietary supplements were to complement their diet due to a lack of certain nutrients and for preventive health purposes.
