Abstract

Secondary title: Dynamic characterization of the runner chamber of the SAXO turbine
Secondary abstract: Dynamic characterization of mechanical components is of vital importance in modern engineering to ensure the safe, reliable and long-term operation of structures. This is particularly relevant for systems subjected to dynamic loads, such as hydraulic turbines. The thesis focuses on the runner chamber, which is a component of s Saxo-type hydraulic turbine. The aim of the work is to determine the optimal structural design with respect to the presence of vertical and circumferential ribs on the runner chamber's model by performing numerical simulations of static and modal analyses using Ansys. Additionally, the goal is to compare modal parameters in different media and to evaluate the applicability of empirical correlation factors. The analysis of the results showed, that the runner chamber with vertical ribs represents the best combination in terms of strenght and manufacturability. It was also found, that the theoretical reduction factors for natural frequencies in air in water match results of modal analysis in the presence of different media.
