Secondary title: ǂThe ǂefficiency of active thermography for detection of defects in concrete structural elements
Secondary abstract: In the diploma, active thermography as a non-destructive testing method for the investigation in civil engineering is presented. The first part contains the principles of infrared thermography that are needed to understand the method and for proper application of this method. Next, the basics of infrared camera were described with different possibilities in the processing of thermographic data with their comparison. Size, depth and shape of anomalies were taken into consideration with the age of the specimens as well as the influence of heating time and the influence of reinforcement in specimens. All tests were performed on four concrete blocks purposely made for this experiment. Results showed that in the case of homogeneous heating, many details can be obtained with the simple use of thermal images. However, images became clearer when thermal contrast images were used and more sensitive with timegrams. To acquire more detailed information about the specimen, the use of thermal contrast curves is recommended, where we track both the maximum thermal contrast and the time where it appears.
