Abstract

Secondary title: Suitability of tractor skid roads for forwarding
Secondary abstract: The measurements for this graduation thesis were taken at KE Cerknica, in GGE UnecŠkocjan. The first mechanized cutting down and skidding wood took place in2004, 2005 and 2006. Our goal was to gather information about the characteristics and damage shown on and around the skid roads. We compared thedamage caused by forwarding and skidding and tried to figure out how many tractor skid roads were suitable for working with forwarder and how many skid roads are actually required for CTL method. Only 3 % of tractor skid roads were not suitable for forwarding, however CTL-technology required 61 % more skid roads than technology using tractors. Working with tractors has no negative effects on the ground soil within our measuring site and mechanized skidding has a moderate visible soil damages ill. There are fewer injuries caused by tractor than forwarding which also requires a longer range of skid roads. We compared tractor skidding and forwarding. However we lack the data on tractor bunching for overall comparison of both technologies.
