Abstract

Rezultati raziskave. Zdravstveni delavci (reševalci) niso dovolj osveščeni (46 %) o pravnih in etičnih dilemah nujne medicinske pomoči in so le delno (62 %) seznanjeni s kazenskopravno zakonodajo s področja nujne medicinske pomoči.

Secondary title: LEGAL AND ETHICAL ASPECTS OF MEDICAL EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE
Secondary abstract: Theoretical basis. In the Master’s thesis we presented all legal and ethical bases for the implementation of medical emergency assistance services. We also presented the most common legal and ethical questions, faced by health practitioners (rescuers) at their work, and the opinion of medical emergency assistance providers on individual ethical dilemmas. Research methodology. We used qualitative research methodology, namely a partially structured questionnaire, consisting of 20 questions. The research included 80 employees (doctors, graduated nurses, health technicians) from three rescue stations with medical emergency assistance. The results are processed with the help of computer programs Microsoft Office Word 2010, Microsoft Office Excel 2010 and IBM SPSS Statistics 20. Results. Health practitioners (rescuers) are not sufficiently aware (46 %) of legal and ethical dilemmas of medical emergency assistance and are only partially (62 %) familiar with criminal law in the field of emergency medical assistance. Health practitioners (rescuers) do not often ask themselves, if they have carried out a particular intervention in a patient according to ethical and legal regulations (46 %). They (45 %) also would not try to revive a patient, who had previously expressed a clear written request that he does not want to be revived. Conclusion. From the research it is evident that rescuers have not enough knowledge from the legal and ethical field of their work. They have mostly questions regarding the care of an alcoholised patient or patient under the influence of psychoactive substances, who is aggressive, or patients, who are declining the needed help. With the introduction of guidelines for different treatments of patients we could avoid many dilemmas. This issue cannot be resolved quickly; therefore a lot more education then currently present will be necessary along with more awareness of health practitioners.
