Secondary title: Studies of retrofitting measures for stone masonry walls
Secondary abstract: In the diploma thesis, shear tests were performed and the behaviour of two strengthened three-layer stone masonry walls, plastered on one side, was analysed. Appropriate retrofitting measures were determined. Plastered stone masonry walls, which were built with lime mortar represent the walls of cultural heritage buildings and were damaged in previous shear tests. Aim of this study was to determine appropriate measures for their retrofitting. Following previous shear tests, damaged walls were grouted along the main cracks and one of them additionaly reinforced with glass fiber cord inserted in repointed horizontal joints. To determine an appropriate grout injection mixture, four different grout mixtures were tested; three lime-based and one lime-cement with 20% of lime. The appropriate grout injection mixture was chosen on the basis of the properties of fresh mixture gainded through four different experimental tests and the results of six different tests on hardened injection mixture. The latter were performed on pre-prepared test specimens in the form of cylinders and prisms of standard dimensions. After grout injecting, the mortar was removed from horizontal joints till certain depth from one of the walls and glass cords of 6 mm diameter were installed by using a cement lime mortar. The cords were inserted along bed joints on the unplastered side of the wall. Shear tests were carried out in the laboratory of the Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering in Ljubljana. The walls have been vertically loaded and tested under cyclic horizontal loading. The obtained results have been used to determine maximum displacements and forces. On the basis of idealized hysteretic response loops, effective shear stiffnesses, ductility factors and tensile strengths of the walls were determined. The results of both walls were compared one to another and the effectiveness of strengthenint techniques were evaluated through the comparison with the results of previous tests on unreinforced walls.
