Abstract

Secondary title: The use of information and communication technology in primary school Slovene lessons in the Šentjur municipality area
Secondary abstract: The society of tomorrow is an information society, a society of knowledge. With the introduction of information and communication technologies, the nature of the educational process is changing. Teachers obtained tools with which they can teach differently and with higher quality and the ability to show things to their pupils that were not possible before. Thus the question arises if teachers are qualified enough to incorporate modern ICT into their classes. Even more important is the question if these new technologies make work easier for teachers or if ICT only adds to the burden. In the empirical section of this thesis the usage of ICT in Slovene lessons in the elementary schools of the municipality of Šentjur is presented. The surveyed teachers use modern ICT and incorporate it into their Slovene classes, which confirms the fact that all the surveyed teachers use a computer and other technologies at least twice a week. Despite the differences in years of service and the age of the teachers, they mainly believe that they are informed enough on the subject to include ICT into the learning process. They also attend special training courses in ICT. All teachers, however, are certain that no technology, not even the most advanced, could replace the teacher and his role in education and upbringing.
