3D modelling of The Propylaneum on Plečnik's Žale from laser scanner data |

In the thesis the process of performing a three-dimensional (3D) model of The Propylaeum on The Plečnik's Žale in Ljubljana is presented. It is based on the terrestrial laser scanner data. This technology is sucessfully used for data acquisition in architecture and cultural heritage. By accomplishing 3D models of objects a modern type of documentation is achieved and therefore it enables archiving the condition of the object, measurement of the model, various types of virtual representations, producing of simulations etc. At the beginning there the object of modelling is briefly introduced, followed by the characteristics and usage of laser scanning method carried out more in details. Apart from that, the comparison of laser scanning and photogrammetry is presented, actually their complementing aspects at making models. Besides, the basics of 3D modelling are described introducing methods and processes of 3D object modelling and the software used for the purpose of this thesis. The essential contribution of the thesis a description of practical process from data acquisition to object modelling and final geometric analysis of the produced model. 3D modelling of The Propylaeum on Žale has been performed in AutoCAD programme using the profiles, while the statue on the roof of the building has been modelled with an automatic method of triangulation. |
