Secondary title: Model of the Sava river by Riverware program and the analysis of water pumping from the storage reservoir of HPP Medvode to the storage reservoir of HPP Mavčiče
Secondary abstract: The first part of the graduation thesis presents the application of RiverWare program for the calculation of electricity production in the upper chain of Sava power stations, which comprises the following hydro power plants: Moste, Završnica, Mavčiče and Medvode. I made a model for the hydro power plant Moste, compared the results of power and electricity produced by RiverWare program, as well as power and energy produced by Sava power stations. The comparison showed too high deviations between the results. This was the reason, as well as inadequate methods of operational dynamics, that the RiverWare program package was demonstrated inadequate. In the second part I made a pumping model in Excel program. The model shows the operation of HPP Mavčiče with daily accumulation with pumping function. HPP Medvode operates in the run – of – river regime and in tandem with the Mavčiče HPP during peak power demand. The idea is that during night time, when electricity consumption is lower, water would be pumped from the compensating reservoir Zbilje into the upstream storage reservoir of the HPP Mavčiče. Pumping is carried out at inflow into the storage reservoir of the HPP Mavčiče from 15 m3 /s to 57 m3 /s. The comparison of electricity production from the model and the actual state showed that less energy is produced in relation to pumping; however, it is more expensive as the production could be increased in the peak time.
