Secondary title: Crosscuricular activities with dance at PE in the first class of primary school
Secondary abstract: Crosscuricular activities are a holistic teaching approach – it is a horizontal and vertical integration of knowledge, different contents and learning skills. The teacher tries to deal with specific content or problem as a more comprehensive way and tries to illuminate one problem from different aspects. In this kind of work a teacher can use different teaching methods and forms of work. One of these organizational forms is the project work. Doing untraditional methods is significant for the project work. There are no content or organization restrictions, teaching time and place are not limited like in the usual school lessons. It combines elements of direct teachers' control of learning process and elements of students' independent work. The role of the teacher in this relationship is to encourage and guide students who through their own efforts and indirect support come to new insights. With this kind of work students are able to develop a congruent personality. The main two purposes of the thesis were the preparation of project week and the research about the use of crosscuricular activities with dance and their impact on acquired knowledge of the students. Two first grade classes of elementary school dr. France Prešeren Ribnica participated in the research: 1a class participated in the project week, 1b class had classic lessons. The results of the gained knowledge were obtained through drawings from both classes and analyzed by observation. Questionnaires, resolved only by the experimental group (1a class) were analyzed using graphs. The results showed that students who participated in the project week with crosscuricular activities with dance gained different and more detailed knowledge about nations, while the control group demonstrated more surfaced and general knowledge. My research confirmed the fact that girls prefer to participate in dance activities more than boys, which also was my prediction. But the research also rejected my hypothesis of increased interest of students to participate in learning by imitation choreographies rather than having their own creations.
