Secondary title: The use of Multicriteria Evaluation in Geographic Information System
Secondary abstract: This thesis focuses on the use of multicriteria evaluation in geographic information system. The theory of MCE, terminology and the methods of GIS are presented in the first part. The second part of diploma includes a description of practical dealing with the problem. We can use two GIS – tools for practical work: ArcGIS 9.1 and Idrisi Andes 15.0. In this part, joining images (criteria) with various methods of multicritera evaluation are described. The purpose of these methods is to find appropriate areas for industry and settlement. The basic method of multicriteria evaluation is Boolean joining of the images. The outcome is illustrated with combination of 0 (unsuitable) and 1 (suitable). The second method described in this diploma is weighted linear combination, which treats the images with range of relevance 0 – 255. The advantage of this method is to interpret the result. Ordered Weighted Averaging is the method where we add, besides the usual weights, the new set of weights, ordered weights. An ordered weight allows controlling the risk and weighting of criteria. Furthermore, the method of finding the most suitable places according to our goal (f.e. industry) is described. In the end of the diploma I present the use of multicriteria evaluation for solving problems with multi- goals.

Abstract (ePrints): Diplomsko delo obravnava uporabo metod večkriterijskega vrednotenja v geografskem informacijskem sistemu. S pomočjo razvrstilnih uteži nadzorujemo tveganje in uravnoteženje kriterijev.
