Secondary title: Visual design of urban roads
Secondary abstract: For the last few years traffic safety in Slovenia is unsatisfying and it is affecting the quality of people's lives. In 2004 on Slovenian roads traffic safety was worse than in the same period in 2003. The number of accidents, people who were killed and people who were injured increased. This data demonstrate that traffic safety in Slovenia should be treated with different approach. One of the possible approaches is designing safe urban road network with good connections, attractive roads which are functional for all users. Road users in urban road network have to be able to understand the city and its structure, because of that, roads have to be adjusted to their traffic function. Visual environment of the road must unambiguously indicate user’s behaviour demanded by different road types and highest velocity permitted on specific road. The consequences of better visual environment are better user’s behaviour and safer roads.

Abstract (ePrints): V Sloveniji je prometna varnost že dalj časa nezadovoljiva ter zmanjšuje kakovost življenja naše družbe.
