Secondary title: Evaluation of digital surface model of urban area from IKONOS stereo pair
Secondary abstract: The present work focuses on the automatic generation of digital surface models from IKONOS stereo pair covering campus of Technical university of Munich as a test site. The first part of the graduation thesis describes the process of automatic generation of digital surface models that have been generated with different parameter set on the digital photogrammetric workstation Leica Photogrammetry Suite. The second part of the thesis focuses on the evaluation of the generated digital surface models, which is based on its comparison with the sample of roof surfaces that have been captured from aerial images. Evaluation consists of statistical and geometric evaluation. In the process of the statistical evaluation averages and RMSEs of height differences between digital surface models and reference objects have been calculated to show the influence of the parameter set on the digital surface model generation and quality of its surfaces in comparison with different types of roofs in the sample. Digital surface models, generated on the commercial software Leica Photogrammetry Suite, have been also compared with two digital surface models that have been generated using software designed especial for processing of high resolution satellite stereo imagery. In the process of geometric evaluation planes of the roof surfaces have been calculated from raster cells of the generated digital surface model using the process of least square adjustment. Adjusted roof surfaces have been compared with the reference roof surfaces.
