Secondary title: Comparison between one- and two-dimensional analysis of the propagation of seismic waves
Secondary abstract: The present work deals with the comparison between two computer programs for analysing the propagation of seismic waves, Shake and Plaxis. These two programs use different ways for solving seismic wave propagation problem. In the first part of my diploma work some comparisons of one-dimensional analysis of one-, two- and three-layer ground profiles with all possible combinations of the three types of soils with very different characteristics have been done. The soils were first modeled by linearelastic and then elasto-plastic material model. The results showed that the computer programs are comparative only for linear-elastic soil models. In the second part the comparison between one- and two-dimensional analysis of quite simplified model of Bovec basin and with the linear-elastic soil models was performed. I have analyzed the simplified 2D model based on the existing geo-electrical investigations of the chosen profile. Then I chose three typical sections on my 2D profile and I made 1D models for them. The effects of the second dimension were clearly seen in the comparison between one- and two-dimensional analysis. The shape of the basin caused in substantial majority of the observed points favourable effects on the ground-motion in the sense that the amplitude of the acceleration values of the points on the surface were smaller than in 1D models. Furthermore, the 2D models confirmed previously known basin effects, like the amplification of the ground-motion at the edges of the basin and that on the ground surface, besides horizontal also vertical components of the acceleration occured in spite of the input groundmotion which consisted only from horizontal accelerations.

V prvem delu diplomske naloge so bile izvedene primerjave enodimenzionalne analize eno-, dvo- in troslojnih profilov tal vseh možnih kombinacij treh zemljin precej različnih lastnosti.
