Secondary title: Analysis of the applicability of terrestrial laser scanning technology for metric documentation of landslides
Secondary abstract: The main theme of this thesis is terrestrial laser scanning, which is only being introduced in Slovenia. The technology is discussed in association with landslides and its adequacy for this purpose is established – particularly with respect to the speed of field work, data processing and possible established data. The initial part of the thesis gives a general description of landslides while the following parts discuss the characteristics of terrestrial laser scanning technology. The laser scanner Riegl LMS Z420i, which was used in the case of the scanning of the Slano blato landslide, is also described and its operation presented. The procedure of measuring landslides by means of laser scanning is compared with the classical surveying method (electronic tachymeter Leica TCRP1201 R300). The procedures of data processing using the computer program RiSCAN PRO as well as the processed results such as contour lines and slopes are presented. The final part of the thesis gives a comparison of measurements obtained by laser scanning and by the classical surveying method. The comparison is carried out by calculating the height differences between the points of classical measurement and the corresponding heights of points on the model surfaces ensuing from the laser scanning data. The model surfaces are the result of different interpolation methods. In this case the interpolation was done using the Surfer 8 program and methods of interpolation such as triangulation with linear interpolation, kriging, the method of natural neighbor and the method of inverse distance to a power.
