Secondary title: ǂThe ǂinfluence on types of cement on sulfate resistance of concrete
Secondary abstract: In my diploma work I have covered the topic of the mechanism of concrete decaying as a result of the sulfate attack. This phenomenon affects concretes which are exposed to soils and waters with high sulphate content. In the first part of my diploma work I have presented constituents of concrete and their influence on the improvement of sulphate resistance. In addition I have also dealt with various ways in which the sulphates permeate into the concrete and the noxious mechanisms of different sulfate solutions on hardened cement paste. So far there is no standardised method of determining the resistance of concrete to this kind of attack, this is why I have made experiments on various of concrete mixes with different types of cement and admixtures, which were exposed to different attack media. Besides exploiting the classical, in literature often presented test methods, the method of measuring the resonance frequency of samples with the device GrindoSonic was also used. In this way the development of dynamic Young’s (elasticity) modulus of concrete can be monitored. In the final part of the diploma work the influences of different cements, effects of various admixtures and impacts of different sulphate solutions were compared and disscused. As a control specimens, specimens exposed to distilled water were used.
