Secondary abstract: When we want to carry out a particular building project, three mutually divergent objectives have to be taken into consideration – quality, costs and time. Quality is determined by the building regulation and is vital in the selection of construction technology. The optimum cost- time ratio and the level of attainment of this goal depend mostly on the organizer’s knowledge, project manager, available technology and the conditions related to the project implementation. The complexity of the structure, large number of the building project’s stakeholders, owner’s growing demands regarding the deadlines require the use of efficient information support and computerized optimization tools. Their aim is to support the decision-making process concerning the project management. However, in order to achieve efficiency, we need to be well acquainted with the issue of cost-duration ratio as much so in relation to the activity itself as to the project as a whole. Only this can lead to obtaining an adequate mathematical model of the project, which is the basis for various optimization methods. The dissertation presents the key parameters for designing such a model as well as the foundations of the optimization method. The method is based on genetic algorithms and is proven to be extremely efficient in solving the multiobjective combinatorial problems of optimization. The presented test example shows the use of different tools based on this method and the analysis of obtained results.
