Secondary abstract:	Tržič municipality lies in the north of Republic of Slovenia and it borders the neighbouring country of Austria. After the retreat of industry its economic development was brought to a standstill and it even deteriorated. A big potential for the resurrection of economy in Tržič lies in its natural resources. In the first, theoretical, part of the thesis concepts like the use of space and more into detail settlement and tourism as part of it are determined. Planning both of them, the settlement and tourism, in the rural and urban areas is stressed. New settlement patterns, impacts of urbanization on countryside and impacts of development of tourism on space are introduced. Tourism is shown as a means to resume the economic development in the municipality. Based on an analysis of the entire area of the municipality, spatial features, spatial potentials and spatial limitations of Tržič are presented in the secon, practical, part of the thesis. We found out thet natural and cultural heritage repreents an extraordinary potential fot the development of settlement and tourism in Tržič. There is also a large potential in the mountainous part of the municipality where more and more popular tourist farms are being opened. Based on criteria that determine the suitability of space for settlement and tourism development and are themselves based on natural and man-made resources, the starting points and goals of spatial development are set in the last part of the thesis. We presented the expected goals on a map and formed a proposal for spatial development as well as a proposal for tourism and settlement development. In the end we wrote down some of the possible scenarios for spatial development of Tržič.
