Secondary title: Integration of GPS and GLONASS in geodetic survey
Secondary abstract: The topic of this Graduation Thesis is the assessment of the possibility of a practical application of the satellite navigation system GLONASS in geodetic surveys. We examined how this satellite system influences field work procedures and the acquired results, when accurate coordinates are needed. The preliminary results are positive but the GLONASS satellite system is not yet fully operational and it is not going to be for at least a few years. There are only 16 active satellites that can supplement the GPS satellite system, and GLONASS as a self-contained system can be used only conditionally, with careful prior planning. The Graduation Thesis consists of a theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part deals with the structure, functioning, advantages and disadvantages of both satellite systems. Subsequently, the influences on observations, the types of observations and the determination of the position of the receiver are being described. Positioning and timing transformations between both of the systems are described in-depth as well. Furthermore, services which operate with information about positions of satellites of both systems are presented. In the practical part I shortly describe the instruments, the methods, which were used, the types of observation, the processing of the acquired data, the obtained results and the interpretation of these results.
