Secondary title: Knowing about the profession of carpenter and woodworking in kindergarden
Secondary abstract: This degree dissertation discusses about wood as an important natural material, which is, despite the widespread use of plastic returning to everyday life. I have decided to write about usage of wood in the kindergarten, because of shortage of these kinds of books. In the theoretical part of degree dissertation I presented the type of wood and joiner's hand tools, while in the empirical part I made the questionnaire (survey) about knowledge of kids about wood and joiner's hand tools. The results were carefully reviewed and considered actual situation of the knowledge of kids. By visiting the joiner, we learned about new profession, joiner's hand tools, wood and its processing. Through activities children learned additional knowledge. After the end of activities I made again the questionnaire (survey) about their knowledge, which showed that children have progressed significantly in this field. The children were very curious, hard-working, resourceful and creative. Through knowing the profession of joiner, wood and joiner's hand tools, they have formed a relationship to technology, organization of work, precision, order, and developed social skills to participate in identifying and resolving problem situations. They appreciated their products and used them at play. Through activities they have gained a lot of knowledge that is why I think we should offer them such activities more often, so they could find solutions with their own effort and broaden their knowledge.

Abstract (ePrints): Les je pomemben naravni material, ki se kljub razširjeni uporabi umetnih snovi ponovno vrača v vsakdanje življenje. Glede na primanjkljaj vsebin o lesu v vrtcu, mi izbira dejavnosti ni povzročala težav. V teoretičnem delu diplomske naloge sem predstavila vrste lesa in mizarsko ročno orodje, medtem ko sem v empiričnem delu pred samo dejavnostjo z vprašalnikom naredila poizvedbo, kakšno znanje imajo otroci o lesu in mizarskem orodju za njegovo obdelavo. Dobljene rezultate sem skrbno pregledala in ugotovila dejansko stanje glede poznavanja lesa ter orodja za delo z njim. Z obiskom mizarja smo spoznavali nov poklic, mizarsko ročno orodje, les ter njegovo obdelavo. Dejavnosti sem načrtovala tako, da so otroci preko njih osvojili dodatna znanja. Po koncu dejavnosti sem ponovno naredila poizvedbo o njihovem znanju in tako pridobila rezultate, ki so pokazali, da so otroci na tem področju močno napredovali. Otroci so bili zelo radovedni, delovni, iznajdljivi in ustvarjalni. Ob spoznavanju poklica mizarja, lesa in mizarskega ročnega orodja so si oblikovali odnos do tehnike, organizacije dela, natančnosti, reda in razvijali sposobnosti za sodelovanje pri odkrivanju in reševanju problemskih situacij. Svoje izdelke so znali ceniti in jih uporabiti pri igri. Preko dejavnosti so pridobili veliko znanja, zato menim, da moramo otrokom ponuditi čim več takšnih dejavnosti s katerimi bodo z lastnim trudom prišli do rešitve in tako širili svoje znanje.
