Secondary title: Hydraulic modelling of the Sava River flow in the area of the future Krško sports center
Secondary abstract: In the present thesis, simulation results of a mathematical modelling of the river Sava in Krško are presented, which we got on the basis of 1D and 2D model. For a rough estimates of flood safety 1D model HEC-RAS was used. On the basis of 1D simulations steady water flow was predicted, which in nature doesn't exists but is sufficiently accurate for the calculations performed in this thesis. 2D calculations were simulated with software tool PCFLOW2D. The models theoretical background, the required input data and the mathematical principles are described. Just like other rivers in Slovenia the river Sava has also experienced many changes in the 20th and 21st century, which caused changes in its natural regime. Today a hydroelectric plant Krško is under construction. The goal of this thesis was therefore to assess flood safety for one of the future projects in Krško: the recreational sports centre on the right bank of the river Sava, which will include a sports complex with swimming pool, outdoor pool, in-line hockey, golf course, soccer, beach volleyball, etc. Given the imminent threat of high water flow of the river Sava, it is important to protect buildings against floods with long return periods, such as 100 years. For this purpose different scenarios were formed to assess levels of flood safety.
