Students' and teachers' awareness about climate changes |
Secondary abstract: |
The thesis deals with the actual topic of the future, that is climate change. According to what is happening today in the world, what the climate change causes, we can already feel what in the future waits for us. The topic is so sensitive that it should be not discussed only in the circle of scientists and politicians, but increasingly also in the general population and among people in general. How much do we talk about this subject in primary schools? Are the children at this stage sufficiently familiar with the climate changes? Do we do enough for them to be aware? Looking at the curricula of the environment, there is very little content on this topic. There are some of the European projects, in which the teachers may be involved, but teachers do not use much of them. Are the students aware of how they may also contribute to improving the situation?
The study included 559 pupils in the school year 2008/09, attending the 3rd, 6th and 8th class of primary school and about 87 primary school teachers. We selected schools from four different Slovenian regions of Gorenjska, Ljubljana, Mura and coastal regions. The aim of the study was to determine the current state of awareness on climate change of students and teachers in primary schools, and a better understanding of climate change associated with age, and whether students in schools, where teachers are more aware on climate change, can be more aware.. We wanted to determine whether the awareness among the regions is the same. The research was done through a questionnaire.
The study showed a low awareness of pupils and teachers about climate change. At the same time, research has shown that it is not imperative that knowledge about climate change and awareness and responsible behavior are all interrelated. |

Abstract (ePrints): |
Naloga obravnava aktualno temo prihodnosti, to so podnebne spremembe.
