Health of primary teachers in Obalno-kraška region |
Secondary abstract: |
The purpose of the dissertation was to evaluate the health of elementary school teachers teaching in the southwestern part of Slovenia, in the so-called Obalno-kraška region. The main goals were to determine how often do these teachers engage in physical activity, how frequently are they absent from work due to health problems, how often do they feel tense, under stress or under severe pressure and how do they deal with it, how many of them smoke or live in a smoking environment, what is their opinion about their body weight, which are the most common health problems that affect them, what is their opinion about teaching physical education and would they rather leave it to physical education teachers, and, finally, how satisfied are they with their working environment.
The research included 80 elementary school teachers, who teach children from first to fifth grade in the Obalno-kraška region. The data, which was collected using an anonymous survey, was sorted into a table and quantitatively analyzed. The computations included frequencies of specific answers, cumulative frequencies, highest and lowest values, and the arithmetic mean. The results were analyzed and interpreted with help of various tables and graphs.
The results of the research showed that: 86.2 % of the teachers regularly engage in physical activity; due to an illness or an injury, the teachers are absent from work on average 6.4 days per year; 60.0 % of the teachers think that they take good care of their health; 65.0 % of the teachers occasionally feel tense, under stress or under pressure and 82.5 % have no trouble dealing with these conditions; 12.5 % of the teachers are smokers and 7.5 % live in a smoking environment; 55.0 % of the teachers are satisfied with their body weight; the most common health problems among the teachers are allergies (21,3 %); 86.3 % of the teachers enjoy teaching physical education, 52.5 % think that teaching it can sometimes be demanding, and 48.8 % of the teachers think that physical education teachers should not replace them in teaching the subject; 51.2 % of the teachers occasionally feel disturbed by the noise coming from surrounding area, such as the school hallway or the dining hall. |

Abstract (ePrints): |
Zbrane podatke smo vnesli v tabelo in kvantitativno obdelali.
