Secondary title: Developing the child`s speech through picture book
Secondary abstract: In the thesis I covered the development of child's speech by using a picture book. I divided the thesis into two parts. In the theoretical part I defined what speech, language, picture book and reading are. I introduced the development of child’s speech and factors that influence it as well as the value of picture books and reading in the process of child’s development. In the empirical part I used a questionnaire to carry out a survey in which I tried to find out educators’ opinion on how picture books influence child’s speech development. The results show some educators do not realize the importance of frequent reading of the picture books for child’s speech development. At the same time, they notice differences between children who read with their parents and those who do not. Moreover, they also notice insufficient awareness of the parents at choosing appropriate children’s literature.

Abstract (ePrints): V diplomski nalogi sem obravnavala razvijanje otrokovega govora ob slikanici. Naloga je razdeljena na dva dela. V teoretičnem delu sem opredelila pojme govor, jezik, slikanica in branje. Predstavila sem razvoj otrokovega govora in dejavnike, ki vplivajo nanj. Dodala sem pomen slikanic in branja v otrokovem razvoju. V empiričnem delu sem naredila raziskavo, v kateri sem s pomočjo anketnega vprašalnika ugotavljala mnenja vzgojiteljev o vplivu slikanice na otrokov govorni razvoj. Rezultati kažejo, da se nekateri vzgojitelji ne zavedajo vpliva pogostega branja slikanic na otrokov govorni razvoj, hkrati pa pri svojem delu opažajo razlike med otroki, s katerimi starši berejo in tistimi, s katerimi ne berejo, ter nezadostno osveščenost staršev pri izbiri literature za otroke.
