Secondary abstract:	Youth centers are places where young people have their space and support for active and productive use of leisure time, where they can explore their own potential and interest and is especially friendly and open to young people. This thesis in its theoretical part represents youth centers, why they are needed, what are the principles, concepts and methodology and why it is leisure time important for the personal development of the individual. I have described the role of youth centers, according to the position of young people in today's society, the needs of young people in relation to their leisure time. The empirical part of the thesis presents qualitative study among five workers in youth centers. I discovered that theoretical knowledge and perceptions of workers in the youth center are closely related with youth work and the use of leisure time. I came to the conclusion that youth centers are very important for young people, for use of their free time, as well as any interviewees spoken, especially in the context of growing up in modern times.

Abstract (ePrints):	Mladinski centri so mesto, kjer se mladim ponuja prostor in podpora za aktivno in koristno preživljanje prostega časa, raziskovanje lastnih možnosti in interesov; je predvsem prijateljsko in odprto okolje za mladostnike. Diplomsko delo v teoretičnem delu predstavlja mladinske centre, zakaj so potrebni, katera so načela, koncepti in metode dela ter zakaj je pomemben prosti čas za razvoj posameznika. Opisala sem vlogo mladinskih centrov, glede na položaj, ki ga imajo mladi danes v družbi in potrebe mladih ter glede na njihov prosti čas. V empiričnem delu diplomske naloge je predstavljena kvalitativna raziskava med petimi delavci v mladinskih centrih. Ugotovila sem, da gre za tesno povezanost med teoretičnimi izhodišči ter dojemanjem mladinskih delavcev glede dela v mladinskem centru, dela z mladostniki in uporabe njihovega prostega časa. Prišla sem do ugotovitve, da je mladinski center zelo pomemben za mladostnike, za uporabo njihovega prostega časa, kot so tudi vse raziskovane osebe govorile, posebej v kontekstu odraščanja v današnjem vremenu.
