Observation and development of the concept of space in the fifth grade of the nine-year elementary school |
Secondary abstract: |
The theoretical part of the dissertation entitled Observation and development of the concept of space in the fifth grade of the nine-year elementary school focuses on observation. This is a significant part of the process of recognition, within which the process of perception and visual perception of information from the environment and the observation in everyday life, at school, during learning process and in the classes of arts have been taken into consideration. An important component of the dissertation is the chapter on space. It includes the definition of space, a detailed aspect of its perception, recognition and understanding; besides, it emphasizes the representation of space on the surface and the effects through which the created illusion works on the architecture. The last chapter of the theoretical part consists of the presentation of the children’s artistic expression from preschool to school age.
The empirical part of the dissertation focuses on the research of pupils’ concept of space. It includes the analysis of their works and their existent styles of representing space on the surface and the effects of a thorough observation on the representation of depth. It has been discovered that the concept of space of the majority of pupils is adequately developed and has improved after gaining new experience. Some differences were found in comparing the representation of depth among pupils of the same age. The pupils used various kinds of depth representation on the surface after the experience of observation. The most commonly used styles of depth representation were seen as a bottom line, vertical arrangement and overlapping. |

Abstract (ePrints): |
Talna črta, vertikalno nizanje in prekrivanje so bili najpogosteje uporabljeni načini prikazovanja globine prostora. |
