Analysis of extreme precipitation conditions in September 2007 in Western Slovenia |
Secondary abstract: |
The purpose of this graduation thesis is detailed analysis of rainfall on September 18, 2007. First part of the report includes description of measurement methods, prediction and distribution of the rainfall, and quantity differences around Slovenia. Moreover, short description of floods and floods frequency in basin of Selška Sore. Afterwards, there is temporal-spatial distribution, weather development, preliminary rainfall prediction and distribution of the rainfall defined. Thesis includes also an introduction of statistical distribution and methods, which can be used for extreme rainfall and L-moments analysis. Calculations are based upon rainfall data, which was presented from Environmental Agency of the Republic of Slovenia. For calculation it was used Microsoft Excel program with macro support of Visual Basic program language. Program supports selected two- or three- parametric distribution and L-moments method. In the final part of the paper, there are results of extreme and return period of the rainfall presented. Calculations was made for Pearson III, Log Pearson III and Gumbel distribution that are based on ordinary moments and L-moments. The final conclusion is, that the most suitable results are given by Gumbel distribution. |
