Secondary title: Speech and language skills of twin girls with Williams-Beuren syndrome
Secondary abstract: Williams-Beuren syndrome is a rare genetic disorder with prevalence 1:10.000. Microdeletion on chromosome 7q11.23 results in major physical changes and many other impairments which effect individual’s functioning. The research aimed to analyze speech and language skills of twin girls with Williams-Beuren syndrome and to compare them to each other according to the results. The subjects of the research were 8 years old and 5 – 7 months old identical twin girls. I have evaluated and compared the appearance of their oral cavity and their ability to perform a variety of orofacial myology exercises, their maximum phonation time of speech sounds /a/, /s/ and /z/ and then calculated the ratio between unvoiced and voiced sound, the speed of their performing repetitions of diadohokinesis syllables, their articulation, fonological awareness, word recall, rythem and memory, mean utterance length and the word formation ratio, receptive speech, intelligibility in context, nonverbal and verbal pragmatic features and their social-conversational skills. The results indicated many differences between certain aspects of speech and language skills, despite the fact I was comparing identical twin girls. The results of the implementation of the various tasks and tests indicated that their speech and language skills deviate from ability of their peers without disabilities.

Abstract (ePrints): Williams-Beuren sindrom je redka genska motnja s prevalenco 1:10.000.
