Due to the loss of vision an individual needs to acquire specific skills for a safe and effective travel, which he can gain through a systematic orientation and mobility training and the training of long cane techniques. Knowledge of the filed of orientation and mobility and long cane travel goes deep into history, but the systematic teaching only emerged after the Second World War, due to the needs of the blind war veterans. The safety and quality of life of an individual depend on the outcome of the orientation and mobility training, making it important to have highly qualified orientation and mobility specialist teach the area, in which they have received the necessary training and gain specific knowledge and skills necessary for teaching in this field, as shown by the numerous research and competencies required for certification of orientation and mobility specialists. Orientation and mobility specialist assesses the individual’s current functioning, determines the content of the training, the time-limitations and carefully plans each lesson, with the help of the results of learning theories, different didactic approaches and his own flexibility. The blind nad visually impaired in Slovenia do not receive the sufficient training, therefore the need for orientation and mobility and long cane travel training and the training of orientation and mobility is crucial. |

Abstract (ePrints): |
Inštruktor orientacije in mobilnosti oceni posameznikovo trenutno funkcioniranje, določi vsebine treninga, jih časovno omeji in skrbno načrtuje vsako posamezno učno uro, pri čemer si pomaga z izsledki teorij učenja, različnimi didaktičnimi pristopi in lastno prilagodljivostjo. |
