Secondary abstract: |
The purpose of my diploma is researching the health of primary school teachers teaching in the Prekmurje region of Slovenia. We wanted to find out how do teachers in Prekmurje region take care of their own health, how many hours per week they do active sports, which doctors they have visited in the last 12 months and how many days in average they are absent from work. Furthermore we wanted to find out how often they feel tense, under stress or under severe pressure and how do they deal with it, how many of them smoke or live in a smoking environment. We also wanted to find out how many teachers are satisfied with their working environment, how many of them like to teach physical education and what percentage of them rather leave it to the physical education teachers.
In our research 75 elementary school teachers teaching in the Prekmurje region participated. The data was acquired by means of a questionnaire for teachers and PE pedagogues. The basis for it was Health-related behavioural manners, a questionnaire designed at CINDI Slovenia. It was slightly adapted by Dr. Vesna Štemberger for the needs of the diploma thesis. The data was sorted into a table and quantitatively analysed.
We determined that primary school teachers in Prekmurje region estimate their health condition as being good and they also take good care of their health; teachers are sportily active on average 4 hours per week. Furthermore we determined that more than half of teachers occasionally feel tense, under stress or under pressure. It turned out that less than half of teachers have smoked or smoke at the present; Most of the elementary school teachers are happy with their current weight; The most common teachers problems are allergies, hypertension and spinal diseases and injuries. Most of the respondent teachers like to teach physical education and think that teaching it is not tiresome, only 10% of respondents would leave the teaching of P. E. to sports teachers. |

Abstract (ePrints): |
