Secondary title: Macrocalibration in the process of hydraulic modelling of water supply systems
Secondary abstract: The thesis presents an integrated approach to hydraulic modelling of water supply systems, which is mostly based on our own research. The starting phase of hydraulic modelling requires appropriate setting up of a geographic information system and preparation of databases of all entities. This is today crucial for efficient management of water supply systems as far as technical as well as economic and legal aspects are concerned. Appropriate management of data on a water supply system is also a condition for hydraulic modelling. Hydraulic modelling itself consists of several phases which normally begin with the setting up of nodes, the assessment of hydraulic parameters and, considering the purpose of the model use, also with the skeletonization of a hydraulic model. On the basis of such an uncalibrated hydraulic model a calibration procedure is further on performed which, together with verification and validation, leads to a calibrated hydraulic model credibly representing a real water supply system. Such a model is suitable for various analyses of situations to be performed on it and provides a manager with an efficient tool for future planning and improvement of system operation. The calibration of hydraulic models itself can be divided into two phases. The first phase is a procedure of macrocalibration, i.e. elimination of mainly geometric and topological errors, while the second one, i.e. microcalibration, comprises calibration of mainly hydraulic parameters, such as pipe roughness coefficients and distribution of consumption across the system. Considering individual findings in the calibration phases it is important that databases in the information system are suitably updated which can very much automate the procedure of hydraulic model design. The thesis focuses especially on the macrocalibration area since it has been established that this is a phase which has not been elaborated enough in the hydraulic modelling procedure.
