Secondary title: Impact of vegetation on urban runoff
Secondary abstract: Many authors have proven with their research and analyses that increase of flow and pollution of groundwater and air is linked with shortage of urban vegetation and increase of impervious areas in urban environment. The explanation lies in decreased infiltration in urban environment and decrease if intercepted precipitation by urban vegetation which balances runoff. In theoretical part of the thesis we presented basic concepts which are important for understanding impact of surface type on runoff. We presented rational method in detail because it is one of the main methods for determining maximum peak discharge. This empirical method is mostly used when dimensioning the sewage system for runoff from urban areas. The method is also suitable for determining maximum peak discharge from smaller rural areas. Green ValuesTM National Stormwater Management Calculator was used in this work. With help of this program we tried to determine impact of planted trees on runoff from parking lot. We used the same program to estimate costs and benefits of such development in this area.

Abstract (ePrints): Mnogi avtorji so s svojimi raziskavami in analizami dokazali povečanje odtoka ter onesnaževanje podtalnice in zraka zaradi pomanjkanja zelenih površin in prevelike količine neprepustnih površin v urbanem okolju. V nalogi smo uporabili program Green ValuesTM National Stormwater Management Calculator, s pomočjo katerega smo ugotavljali vpliv zasaditve dreves na odtoke z izbranega parkirišča. Hkrati smo analizirali tudi stroške in koristi.
