Preliminary dam-break flow analysis of four embankment dams in Slovenia |
Secondary abstract: |
Graduation thesis is discussing dam-break flow of four embankment dams in Celje region: Trnava, Lahovnica, Loče and Radigaj. All four objects were constructed in the second half of twentieth century. They have not been maintained properly in the last decade and according to findings of project VODPREG they do not meet the sufficient safety criteria. This means that these four dams represent high level of hazard for downstream area. We were interested on determining estimative hazard rating for downstream area using Simplified Dam-Break (SMPDBK) Flood Forecasting Model, developed by National Weather Service. First we evaluated how suitable simplified methods are for
preliminary analysis by comparing the results of Trnava and Loče with already existing reports in which calculations were made by using proper 1D dam-break models. The calculations were made for instantaneous and gradual breach formations. The result consists of peak flow values at specific cross sections, their respective depths and time required for the peak to reach each cross section. Based on
the results of the analysis flood maps of downstream areas were created. This is how we have defined the preliminary dam-break flood hazard rating for all four downstream areas. |

Abstract (ePrints): |
V diplomski nalogi smo obravnavali posledice porušitve štirih pregrad na celjskem območju: Trnava, Lahovnica, Loče in Radigaj. Vse štiri pregrade so bile zgrajene v drugi polovici dvajsetega stoletja in so v zadnjih letih slabo vzdrževane.
pregrad. |
