Anti-flood measures for buildings in the Miren settlement |
Secondary abstract: |
The graduation thesis deals with the protection of residential and non-residential parts of buildings in the Miren settlement and neighbouring villages of Orehovlje and Vrtoče. The possible measures are described in the first part, with an emphasis on those measures that are more viable in terms of construction. The second part presents maps in the SAGA GIS software application based on the assumption of a hydraulic calculation for the hypothetical event of a centennial flood. Data on the flows are presented for the Miren Water Gauging Station and were acquired from the Slovenian Environment Agency. According to a Pearson 3 distribution, the flow was estimated at 408 m3/s. This hydraulic calculation was used at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Geodesy of the University of Ljubljana, namely in the Flow 2D software application. The data were then used in the abovementioned SAGA GIS application which enables the overlapping of orthophoto images with different layers, whereas I was more interested in the velocity and height of the water. Based on these data and the actual conditions in the field I visited, I proposed two measures that, in my opinion, are the most appropriate when it comes to implementing anti-flood protection. I also added a chapter which describes the most vulnerable parts of the installation in the case the buildings are protected by the abovementioned two methods. Besides the buildings, I examined the Vipava River, its bed and banks, while I also assessed the situation in terms of the rate of flow. |

Abstract (ePrints): |
