Use of Open Source software Quantum GIS |
Secondary abstract: |
Development of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) has brought many benefits. Their market place improves and changes constantly. At first proprietary GIS software dominated the market, but now Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) development is also on the rise. FOSS in GIS enables individuals to access and use GIS software just by having an
internet access and a personal computer. FOSS development is also sponsored by developing countries because FOSS enables them to edit and use spatial data with no expenses for additional software.
This graduation thesis deals with Free and Open Source program Quantum GIS. Graduation thesis is divided into three parts. First part is focused on GIS history and it's development and the idea of Free and Open Source Software. The second part of this diploma work presents program Quantum GIS and basic working operations are described. The final third part of the diploma describes practial use of Quantum GIS. Quantum GIS is composed of many algorithms that have a different source of origin. Analyses performed in this part were executed by different algorithms, which belong to different Free and Open Source GIS programs. Both vector and raster data types were used. All working procedures and analytic procedures are presented with pictures and text, so it can be repeated. This work can be
used as a learning tutorial for Quantum GIS.
For input data the area of upper Sava valley with village Rateče was chosen. This area is covered by »TTN sheet« B2727. |

Abstract (ePrints): |
Geografski informacijski sistemi (GIS) so s svojim razvojem prinesli veliko koristi.
Diplomska naloga obravnava prosto dostopni in odprtokodni program Quantum GIS. Predstavljeni so celotni postopki dela v programu Quantum GIS in nekaj postopkov analiz.
spoznavanju programa Quantum GIS.
