Secondary title: Complete renovation of the thermal envelope of residential apartment building on the Coast, including economics and carbon footprint
Secondary abstract: In the diploma thesis, we focus on complete renovation of the thermal envelope of on over 40 years old residential block of flats, situated on the Slovenian coast. Over the last years, energy performance of buildings became an ever more important element in civil engineering and construction. For this main reason it has been decided to make precise calculations of annual heat demand, costs and savings that are connected with renovation of thermal envelope of a specific building in the framework of this Graduation thesis. Based on the building's project documentation, the current annual heating demand was calculated using the TOST computer program that is in line with the methodology for calculating energy performance of buildings. Furthermore, calculation was done also of those savings connected to different levels of thermal insulation of the facade, attic and basement ceiling. In addition a detailed inventory of construction works and prices associated with inventory, including current subventions was made. Moreover, by using life cycle cost analysis, the most cost-effective option was determined among a range of different alternatives of thermal insulation. Finally, in the last part of project, focus was put on calculating the carbon footprint of materials in form of comparson of the use of expanded polystyrene- EPS and mineral wool as materials for thermal insulation of the building.
