Comparison of modern-day intersection modelling software exampled on an intersection in Ljubljana |
Secondary abstract: |
In recent years there has been significant progress in the development of road design software. We describe the methodology, work-flow, history and current state of road design and modelling, including the verification of the level of service.
The second part focuses on a specific intersection describing the design and modelling process with different commercially available software tools. We focused on software with a higher presence in the Slovenian market. For the design of a four-leg junction we tested Civil
3d, Plateia, Nexus and Via and for the design of a roundabout we tested Civil 3D, Plateia and Torus. Workflow diagrams for all software tools that were used are presented. The only stand-alone program is Civil 3D, whereas all the others are designed as Civil 3d plug-ins. A
comparison of all tested software is presented. Plateia and Civil 3D also offer 3d visualization tools. All tested programs except Via also offer data exporting in LandXML format. This file format can be imported, for example, into UC-win/Road, a program that is designed for traffic simulation.
We highlight some of the problems encountered and point out some difficulties or deficiencies of the software. Road design software has become very sophisticated, but we have found that there is still room for improvement. |

Abstract (ePrints): |
V prvem delu diplomskega dela smo napisali nekaj o zgodovini in
Naredili smo medsebojno primerjavo uporabljene programske
opreme. Izdelali smo vizualizacijo, kar omogočata le Plateia in Civil 3d. Vsi testirani programi razen Via omogočajo izvoz podatkov v format LandXML.
