Secondary title: Word comprehension in a hearing impaired student
Secondary abstract: In our thesis we compared word comprehension in a hearing impaired student and his peers with normal hearing. The hearing impaired student is currently participating in a hearing impaired specialized program at a primary school with educational standards equivalent to those of regular primary schools. The differences in word comprehension were assessed by applying the semantic differential. We conducted a test which included four Slovene words: šola (school), vzorec (sample or pattern), mačka (cat) and prijateljstvo (friendship). The students were asked to assess these words on a scale from 1 to 7 , taking into account different elements of the word's denotation. Furthermore, the aim of our research was to determine to what extent word properties influence the differences in comprehension between the hearing impaired student and the students with normal hearing.

Abstract (ePrints): Cilj diplomskega dela je primerjava razumevanja besed med učencem z okvaro sluha, ki je vključen v prilagojeni program devetletne osnovne šole z enakovrednim izobrazbenim standardom za gluhe in naglušne, in slišečimi vrstniki iz redne osnovne šole. Razlike v razumevanju sem ocenila s pomočjo semantičnega diferenciala. Test zajema štiri besede in sicer: šola, vzorec, mačka in prijateljstvo. Učenci so slednje besede ocenili s posameznimi elementi denotativnega prostora besede na sedem stopenjski ocenjevalni lestvici. Cilj diplomskega dela je prav tako ugotoviti, v kolikšni meri lastnosti besed vplivajo na razlike v razumevanju med slišečimi učenci in učencem z okvaro sluha.
