Abstract

Secondary title: ǂThe ǂanalysis of the impact at low temperatures on the characteristics of bituminous mixtures for wearing courses on pavements
Secondary abstract: Cracks of various shapes and sizes are among the most widespread damages to road surfaces. The main reason for the formation of cracks in the asphalt layer is increasing tensile and shear stress to the point when the strength of the material exceeds. We begin the experimental part of the dissertation with laboratory tests of the asphalt mixture AC 8 surf and AC 11 surf at low temperatures. The thesis continues with findings of the effect of bitumen content, mechanical properties of the test results TSRST, UTST and maximum tensile strength reserves and temperatures at maximum reserve. Laboratory tests continue by analyzing the impact of different start temperature of the test TSRST to the asphalt mixture AC 8 surf at 6.2 m. -% content of bitumen. The tests were carried out at the TU Wien. The paper presents two international comparison analyses of the results at low temperatures, which were carried out at the standard EN 12697-46 between laboratories TU Wien - Ramtech and TU Wien - ZAG. Based on these findings we present a proposal to improve the standard EN 12697-46. The statistical analyses present the analysis of the specimen length tolerance, the statistical analysis of stone mastic asphalt (SMA) mixtures, the analysis of large scale bulk density of three samples for each test and the analysis where the crack occurred in the specimen. At the end of the work there are recommendations for further researches based on the shear stress at low temperatures on the asphalt pavements.
