My final thesis is about a new didactic board game for lessons of home economics, which is meant to be used in the module of textile, more exactly, for the theme Treatment and maintenance of textile products.
In the theoretical part I presented the basics, based on the studies in Slovenian and foreign literature. I started developing my didactic game leaning on the knowledge of the structure of the lesson, motivation, learning and games and the basic professional knowledge about textile, which is needed to play the game.
In the empirical part I present the new didactic game and the research, with which I wanted to test its usefulness. I included 3 elementary schools in the research; 129 fifth grade students and 6 teachers altogether . Results show that students remember better the procedures of textile treatment and build a more permanent knowledge by playing the game in comparison to learning it in normal class. Their interest for the subject and motivation for work also increase.
The pedagogical part contains my preparation for the lessons, which I carried out for the purpose of my research. I also explain how this new learning game fits the Seven E principles of home economics class and my vision for its integration in the lesson.
The new didactic game has proven to be an interesting enrichment of home education lessons. It helps students remember the learning subject better. Not only students, but also teachers were very satisfied with the game. |
