Most authors agree that leisure includes activities, which are outside of family, social, school and work commitments. Leisure is a very important area of life, as it affects the development of the personality, skills, social skills and attitude towards other people. It provides us with entertainment, pleasure and relaxation; it also gives us new strengths, to easier cope with the everyday life obligations.
In theoretical part, I precisely defined leisure, pointed out its importance and functions, described the principles and leisure activities as well as the development of life qualities trough leisure activities. I also included factors in the implementation of free time and the importance of education for leisure, as the thesis applies to active spending of free time of children with their parents.
In empirical part I have, with the help of a questionnaire, researched, what is free time and how much of it children do have, how, where and with whom do they spend it, and most of all how much and how do children spend it with their parents. Half of the children think they have just enough free time, they spend most of free time in company of their friends and indoors. During the weekends they spend most of their free time with their parents. They do sports, they go shopping, they go on a trip or they go for a walk, they watch TV, and they talk to each other a lot. Most children get along well with their parents and for the children the parents are the first ones to whom they turn to when they are in distress. 40 % of the surveyed children would like to have more free time to spend with their parents. |
