magistrsko delo
Abstract

THE ANALYSIS OF POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE FACTORS IN THE WORK PLACE OF POLICE OFFICERS |
Secondary abstract: |
Depending on the work position and place of employment, the work of police officers may be quite different, since work conditions and workload are also very different. Accordingly, job satisfaction and motivation for work vary and are influenced also by many different psychosocial factors. The following part shall represent a survey that verifies positive and negative factors at work of police officers. Hypotheses are set on the basis of previous studies and according to the particularities of the studied labor organization. We were interested in the nature of the connection between job requirements, job resources (questionnaire used: Job demands and resources, Tement, 2010), organizational affiliation (questionnaire: Work affiliations, Meyera and Allena, 1997), work commitment (questionnaire: Job satisfaction, Schaufeli, Bakker, and Salanova, 2006), stress (we checked stress by means of a questionnaire drawn by Vovk, 2012 and Umek, 2008) and job satisfaction (questionnaire: Pogačnik`s questionnaire of job satisfaction, Pogačnik, 2003). The survey was conducted on 314 police officers from different units; for testing hypotheses we used a multiple regression model. The survey results are mainly in accordance with the previous research carried out in this field. We confirmed that job resources and work commitment positively correlate with the job satisfaction, while the correlation between stress and job satisfaction was negative, as expected. Unfortunately, we were unable to demonstrate a correlation between job demands and affiliation on one side and job satisfaction on the other, since the connection between the constructs was not statistically important. |
