Abstract

Diplomsko delo je razdeljeno na teoretični in praktični del. Pri teoretičnem delu so ob posameznih primerih akvarelov prikazane odlike akvarela, kot so transparentnost, mehka harmonija vodnatih barv in lepota slikarske bistrine. Podan je umetnostnozgodovinski oris razvoja akvarela od starih Egipčanov prek srednjeveških iluminatorjev do uporabe akvarela v času odkrivanja Amerike in omembe protagonistov akvarela v 18., 19. in 20. stoletju, nato je omenjen izum poltonske reprodukcije v grafični industriji in njegov vpliv na razvoj akvarela. Podana je biografija Paula Cézanna in osvetljeni sta vloga ter kontekst Cézannove umetnosti. Prepoznani in opredeljeni so bistveni označevalci Cézannove gradnje akvarelov. Pri praktičnem delu diplomskega dela smo realizirali lastno interpretacijo podobnih motivov iz narave v akvarelu in pri tem upoštevali Cézannov princip gradnje akvarelov. Pri tem smo iskali lastno slikarsko pripoved in predstavili postopek lastnega dela.

Secondary title: Cézanne's approach to creating watercolour
Secondary abstract: This diploma paper consists of the theoretical and the practical part. In the theoretical part, the features of watercolours are demonstrated on individual examples of this painting method: transparency, soft harmony of watery colours and the beauty of the painting’s lucidity. An art-historical outline of the progress of watercolours is presented ranging from Ancient Egypt through illuminators in the Middle Ages to the use of watercolours in the time when the continent of America was discovered, followed by the mention of watercolour protagonists in the 18th, 19th and 20th century and the invention of halftone reproduction in the printing industry and its influence on the development of watercolours. The theoretical part also covers Paul Cézanne's biography and highlights the role and context of his art. The essential markers of Cézanne's construction of watercolours are identified and defined. In the practical part of the paper I realize my own interpretation of similar motifs from nature in watercolour. In doing so I considered Cézanne's principle for constructing watercolours while seeking my own painter’s narration. I also explain the process of my own work.
