diplomsko delo

Abstract

Secondary abstract: Literary hybrids have been a part of literature since the ancient times and have constantly changed and adapted to given circumstances during the course of literary historical development. They can also be found in Slovenian literature. The purpose of this diploma thesis titled Short Slovenian Poetic Prose is to show individual variations of literary hybrids as well as to classify them accordingly and show their properties. For this purpose we've selected six collections of short Slovenian poetic prose, which are completely different in terms of motifs and themes, but contain enough common elements to demonstrate and argue the existence of literary hybrids between two literary techniques like poetry and prose. We've focused mainly on narratological aspect of studying given texts, which enables a useful discussion of different types of texts in the context of its universal possibility of studying narrative-information acts. We've established that the type of narrator, the internal and external structure of the text as well as the degree of figurative language play an important role in establishing and classifying literary hybrids between poetry and prose. Given the spectrum of related properties of individual hybrids we've proved that there is no dividing line between poetry and prose, but rather a transitional zone where there are different literary hybrids which resemble or digress from the so-called primary prose or primary poetry depending on the quantity and proportion of prosaic or poetic elements.
