Abstract

Secondary title: DEVELOPMENT AND USE OF STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT IN HOSPITAL
Secondary abstract: Theoretical background: The purpose of the research was to investigate the actual state considering the knowledge of strategic management in Murska Sobota General Hospital; in other words, to find out to what level strategic management has been developed and used there, which is of vital importance for the organisation, and affects the work performance in the hospital at different management levels. Methodology: In order to prepare this master's thesis, we used a combination of different research methods. The theoretical part of this paper is based on a descriptive work method, whereas the empirical part is based on a survey method. The data obtained were processed with the help of the multivariate statistical method. Workers employed at all three levels within the four activities recorded in the institute statute of Murska Sobota General Hospital represented the research sample. The interviewees participated in this survey on a voluntary basis. Results: We found out that the strategy, vision, and mission of Murska Sobota General Hospital are least known by the lower management. Furthermore, we found out that knowing strategic management as a management instrument is decreasing proportionately with the level of management. Additionally, we came to a conclusion that the familiarity with SWOT analysis as a strategic management method is the lowest at the lower management level. All the findings showed statistically important differences between management levels and individual statements. Within this research, we found out that the top management itself ranked the most of the factors highest on the scale of values, moreover, we proved that the process of strategic management in Murska Sobota General Hospital was insufficient. Conclusion: Strategic management is of vital importance for the hospital, moreover the preparation of a basic strategic document, i. e. the development strategy, is essential for the existence of Murska Sobota General Hospital.
