Secondary title: The influence of MATP on people with intellectual disabilities – case study
Secondary abstract: Motor development of children with intellectual disabilities is different from physical development of children without disabilities. Some scientists claim, that the development of children with intellectual disabilities is different, others believe that it is delayed. The fact is that physical activities have a positive effect on life quality of all people. The purpose of our research was to investigate if the MATP has any effect on people with intellectual disabilities. In this particular case: on the students of Special Education Center Janez Levec Ljubljana - and if so, to what extent. We examined the areas of elementary movement patterns, manipulation, pounding and kicking. We assessed their competences before and after 12-weeks of training. Our research included 6 students, 2 males and 4 females, aged 10-22 years, with moderate and multiple intellectual disabilities. Research showed that MATP has a positive influence on students and their motor performance. We found out that all students have improved their performance, considering that their results of the final assessment were better than those at the beginning.
