Abstract

Secondary abstract: Stress is nowadays present almost everywhere. At home or at work, we are always faced with situations or events disturbing to us, with anger, sadness. However, each individual is different, and experiences stress in an individual manner: some more, some less. But everyone tries to reduce stress or avoid it in different ways. Also, many experts have been researching the origins and consequences of stress for a long time, and looking for a variety of ways to help people not to be subjected to stress. In this thesis, we want to define the notion of stress, stress at work, stress factors, consequences of stress and to present the two selected retirement homes. We wanted to determine the differences of susceptibility to stress factors among employees in both retirement homes. The master's thesis has been divided into two parts: the theoretical and empirical part. In the theoretical part we have focused on stress, stress at work, stress factors and the consequences of stress. We have also presented two retirement houses, regional retirement house DOSOR, d.o.o. Radenci and a foreign (Austrian) retirement house Senioren und Pflegewohnhaus St. Peter in Ottersbach. In the empirical part of the thesis, we have analyzed results of a survey in the form of a questionnaire consisting of two parts: general part and part dealing with stress factors among employees. We wanted to determine if there are differences in the perception and susceptibility to stress among employees in the foreign and domestic retirement home. Also, we wanted to determine which are the factors that cause the most stress to these employees. Based on the analysis we have confirmed and/or rejected seven hypotheses. We have created a template that could help reduce stress and improve the quality of work undertaken.
