Abstract

Secondary title: Texts of fourth grade pupils of mono- and bilingual primary schools in Prekmurje
Secondary abstract: The master thesis deals with the differences in creating slovene narrative texts (adventure essays) among pupils of mono- and bilingual elementary schools in Prekmurje (in the bilingual school among scholars, who regarding the first/mother tongue are either Slovene or Hungarian citizens). In the study the descriptive and causal non-experimental method of pedagogic research was used. A qualitative research approach dominated, however, it was combined with the quantitative approach as well (survey questionnare). The sampling approach was non-accidentally, therefore intended. On the basis of the developed criteria 46 narrative texts (adventure essays) were analysed, which were written by fourth graders in elementary schools in Prekmurje, aged between 9 and 10. Differences in the quality of the texts were noted when the texts were created by the scholars whose mother tongue is Slovene and whether they are in a monolingual elementary school or whether the text composers are pupils of a bilingual elementary school, whose first language is Slovene or Hungarian. Conclusions have been drawn that the pupils of the monolingual elementary school wrote on average longer and syntacticly more complex texts than the ones of the bilingual elementary school. In the master thesis typical mistakes in the texts of both pupil groups are presented.
